Airways International has signed a contract with Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) for the supply, installation and commissioning of an air traffic control (ATC) simulator for use by Zambian air traffic controllers.
The TotalControl ATC simulator to be installed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA) will include two controller working positions (CWPs), two pseudo pilot positions and an instructor position. The simulator will imitate the full air traffic control flight information region (FIR) scenario and will enhance the quality and speed of ATC training and significantly reducing on-the-job training time.
ZACL CEO, Urvesh Desai says, “We’re delighted to have chosen Airways International to supply and install a TotalControl simulator into our operations. We thank CANSO for providing a platform and assisting Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) like ZACL to engage with reliable Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to procure solutions at economical values. We look forward to working with New Zealand to deliver this solution which will in turn enhance training capabilities for air traffic control operations and help achieve lower training costs and higher ATC trainee success rates.”
Airways International’s GM Commercial James Evans says: “We’re proud to partner with ZACL as it invests in the future of ATC training in Zambia. TotalControl will give ZACL a highly realistic and easy-to-use simulation environment to develop the next generation of controllers, while supporting the ongoing training of its operational controllers.”
Airways International’s TotalControl is one of the most realistic and flexible simulation platforms on the global market, with real-world tower graphics that take advantage of terrain mapping data, photo-realistic 3D rendered models and TotalControl’s leading-edge True View technology.
