25 years of competency based training

This year Airways Training is celebrating 25 years of delivering competency based air traffic services training to ANSPs globally.  We gained New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) accreditation to deliver competency based training courses in 1997, with our first students commencing training in 1998.

Since that time our experienced instructors have taught more than 650 international ATC trainees, from the Middle East to Asia and across the Pacific. And, we’ve been training air traffic control students for Airways for more than 30 years.

The NZQA qualifications (Level 5 – Certificate in Air Traffic Services; Level 6 & 7 – New Zealand Diploma in Air Traffic Services) comprise core compulsory standards representing the competencies required by students, and endorsements recognising the specialised application within the sector.

Students who enrol in these qualifications can achieve both ICAO course certificates and NZQA certificate and diplomas.

It’s been an absolute privilege for us to provide ATC trainees with the skills and knowledge they need to become competent and successful air traffic controllers, through our world-class competency based training. Thanks to all of our instructors and students, past and present, who have made our training academy the success that it is!
