Participants in this course will learn the skills and knowledge required to conduct assessments in the operational air traffic control environment.

This course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and assessment techniques to be able to design, moderate, and undertake valid and reliable assessments, for the issue of ATS ratings and validations using a competency framework.

At the end of the course the trainee assessor will be able to:

  • Describe the principles of assessment and moderation in accordance with best practice
  • Assess staff for ATS Ratings, Certificates of Competency and validations
  • Describe the administration requirements for the issue of ATS ratings, certificates of competency and validations
  • Assess ATS staff for the issue of ATS Instructor ratings and continued currency of ATS Assessor ratings
  • Know the functions of applicable industry regulatory bodies
  • Describe how to reduce stress before and during an assessment
  • Describe how to prepare and conduct written and oral examinations
  • Prepare practical examinations in accordance with a competency assessment process.

This virtual course will be delivered via a blended learning approach – some sessions will be led by an instructor in a virtual classroom environment, and the remainder will be self-directed study. For the instructor-led component students will participate in live virtual sessions, with access to a range of digital interactive content from videos, quizzes and discussion forums. For the self-directed study, students will access our cloud-based learning resources, AirBooks and complete assignments and other activities.

Withdrawals
I understand that if I withdraw my enrolment prior during the withdrawal period referenced below the following refunds will be given in accordance with the Education and Training Act 2020 (New Zealand):
