Welcome to our latest ATC training cohort from Australia

On Monday 21 July, we welcomed our newest cohort of Airservices Australia ATC training students to the Airways Training Centre in Christchurch.

The Australian air navigation service provider has partnered with Airways International. They are sending cohorts of trainees to Christchurch for air traffic control (ATC) training. This follows 10 weeks of online training via Airways International’s AKO virtual academy. In fact, this latest cohort of six students is the second to come to New Zealand for training. The first cohort graduated in August 2024. After that, they returned to Melbourne for additional training, and then completed field training at their new ATC locations.

After completing their 051 Licensing Subjects online, the students have now started ICAO 052 Aerodrome Control training in the TotalControl simulator. Next they’ll move on to ICAO 053 Approach Control Procedural studies.

We would like to wish this group of students all the best with their training here in New Zealand! Airways International is delighted to be collaborating with Airservices Australia. As a result, their ATC students are now training at our facilities in New Zealand, fostering further connection between our two organisations.
