The eight day Train the Trainer in Human Factors/Human Performance, is taught across two weeks(Wednesday to Friday, Monday to Friday), with six contact teaching hours per day.
During this programme all students have access to AirBooks. Students are formally taught in groups, in an instructor led classroom environment with interactive exercises, role-plays and other material designed to engage and encourage student participation.

1. Course Summary
The aim of this course is to equip participants with the necessary skills required to deliver a training course applying general knowledge of human factors/human performance in air navigation services. They will understand basic principles of developing course resources to deliver this course as a Trainer and understand how the application of personal and organisational practices arising from this understanding can contribute to a safer and more efficient ANS working environment.
2. Main focus of the course
2.1 Understand the basic principles of developing course resources to deliver a course in human performance including
– learn how adults learn, including countering barriers to learning and building motivation
– develop lesson-planning skills, such as time management, sequencing, resource development, and giving instructions
– Learn how to identify and obtain relevant, helpful learning outcomes
– Learn how to evaluate what learning has taken place.
2.2 Understanding how human capabilities and limitations affect performance in the ANS environment.
2.3 Gain knowledge and skills to manage factors like fatigue, stress, and communication breakdowns, ultimately enhancing safety and efficiency in air traffic management.
2.4 Understand Human Factors limitations and how they affect human performance a day to day environment
2.5 Develop and explore approaches to the understanding of Human Factors into key areas of aviation operations
2.6 Apply operational Human Factors knowledge to safety investigation activities
2.7 Putting into practice the practical assessment and management of Human Performance
3. Course content
This training course will include the following topics:
3.1. Aviation Human Factors, management and the organization
3.2. ICAO Human Performance Principles, Human performance in aviation operations
3.3 Everyday factors affecting human performance
3.4. Fatigue and stress and how to manage them
3.5. Human information processing and operational decision-making
3.6. Human Threat and Error Management (TEM);
3.7. Investigation of Human Factor incidents; How to develop robust Human Factor incident closure actions
3.8. Resource management training in air navigation services
3.9. Practical application of Human Factors principles and model
4. Duration: 08 days.
The course is intended primarily for people with at least three years of experience in air navigation services, and be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
