
Meet Grace Du —Test specialist in the products team at Airways International, based in our Christchurch office. In this Q&A with Grace, she shares a little about herself and what excites her about working for Airways International and in the aviation industry.
What do you like most about working at Airways International?
Knowing that the software we provide plays a role in keeping skies safe is both humbling and motivating. What I enjoy most is the meaningful impact of our work. I also appreciate the collaborative and supportive culture – everyone is driven, yet approachable.
What initially attracted you to this role, and organisation?
Coming from a background in telecoms and mobile tech, I was excited by the opportunity to work on critical systems in aviation. The role at Airways International stood out because it combined technical challenges with a real-world impact. The organisation’s reputation for excellence and safety, along with its focus on future-ready technology, sealed the deal for me.
What advice would you give someone wanting to start their career in the aviation industry?
Be curious and keep learning. Aviation is a unique blend of precision, safety, and innovation. Whether you’re in software, engineering, or operations, having a mindset of continuous improvement and a passion for quality will take you far. And never underestimate the value of strong communication – aviation is a team effort.
What achievement are you most proud of?
I’m proud of streamlining our testing process and strategy, and continuously improving test quality to support safer and more efficient software delivery.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring New Zealand, and sharing fun STEM learning experiences with my daughters. I’m also passionate about encouraging young people – especially girls – to consider careers in technology and engineering.
