Understanding of the training programme
Before you progress, please take a moment to ensure you have all the important details you need. To find out everything you need to know about the training programme, visit our ATC training web page.
Once you’ve read through the details, please check your understanding from the list below:
- I understand that I am applying for acceptance into a training programme.
- I am aware that there are no guarantees that I will be selected for a trainee position with Airways New Zealand.
- I understand that the number of students, and number of intakes for the training programme varies each year.
- I understand the cost of training and the associated course fees for the training programme.
- For air traffic control training, I am able to commit to approximately nine months of initial academy training in Christchurch. For flight service I am able to commit to 10 weeks of initial classroom training, of which six are in Christchurch, and four are online.
- I understand that I must be aged 20 (or older) to commence ATC training, and 18 (or older)
to commence flight service training (if you are not yet at the required age, you can apply now and we may book you on the next course you’re eligible for). - I am aware that the training is intensive and I will be required to support myself financially.
- I am a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or Australian citizen.
- I am aware that due to the nature of this training programme and the required assessment to gain entry, the selection process may take up to 12 months to conclude.
