Sharon Cooke
Chief Executive Officer
Sharon Cooke is CEO of Airways International Ltd (AIL), and a fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
As CEO of AIL, the commercial arm of Airways New Zealand, Sharon has overall responsibility for Airways’ global business activities including aeronautical information management, procedure design, simulation, digital products and services, and air traffic services training.
Sharon is an experienced aviation executive with a strong background in international business, digital technologies and training.
Prior to joining Airways in September 2010 Sharon was employed in the New Zealand tertiary education sector, with executive and senior academic roles at the University of Canterbury and the Christchurch College of Education.
Trent Clarke
Head of Aeropath
Trent Clarke is a geospatial professional with almost 30 years’ experience guiding aeronautical information providers transitioning to data-centric operations. He was appointed Head of Aeropath in 2018.
Trent is responsible for the strategic direction of Aeropath in implementing new AIM and Navigation Procedure Design services based on stakeholder requirements, both in New Zealand and across the globe, and ensures that Aeropath delivers its core aeronautical information management and flight procedure design services safely and effectively.
Trent holds a Senior Person role under CAA Rule Part 173 (Instrument Flight Procedure Design) and 175 (Aeronautical Information Services).
Mark Hoskins
Head of Commercial
Mark joined Airways International in January 2019 as the Head of Commercial. He has been involved in aerospace-related roles for over 30 years, based in Australia, Europe and the Middle East. His aviation experience includes roles as a military pilot and qualified flying instructor; aeronautical satellite communications; aerospace and defence investment management; and a director on the board of three aviation organisations.
As Head of Commercial for Airways International, Mark leads the commercial, sales and customer relationship management required to deliver the organisation’s international expansion and growth. He is also accountable for bid and contract management, including tender and proposal preparation, business case development and contract negotiation, and is responsible for Airways International’s relationships with customers and partners around the globe.
Greg Tyrrell
Head of Aviation Services & Acting Head of Commercial
Greg is an experienced aviation professional with a strong background in personnel and project management. He has a bachelor’s degree in management and accounting, and is an A category flying instructor. Greg served for 17 years in the Royal NZ Air Force as a fast jet pilot, instructor, and Flight Commander, before spending time flying instructing in the Middle East. He has spent the last 10 years working in non-flying roles for commercial aviation companies.
Greg has developed excellent analytical and organisational skills to deliver projects and manage operations, and his ability to develop and foster relationships with people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds enables effective team and customer management.
As Head of Aviation Services Greg is largely focused on providing services to commercial customers in New Zealand and the Pacific. He also oversees the provision of simulation services to Airways’ Air Traffic Services staff.
Kelly de Lambert
Head of Air Traffic Services (ATS) Training
Kelly has 30 years of experience in a variety of roles within the tertiary education and corporate sectors as a corporate trainer, lecturer, programme manager and academic quality manager. She has a Bachelor of Science, and a Diploma of Adult Teaching and Learning, both from the University of Canterbury.
Kelly’s role focuses on ensuring high quality and profitable delivery of all training courses and programmes at all Airways training campuses as required with each customer, ensuring contracted deliverables are met with high levels of customer and learner success and satisfaction.
She uses her experience to deliver the educational, strategic and operational management of the Airways training academy, with responsibility for all teaching and learning programmes, instructional staff and developing procedures to enhance teaching and learning.
Lauren Walker
Head of Business Services
Lauren has over 15 years’ experience in a range of educational and IT positions, both private and public sector, as a Learning Development Advisor, Business Development Support, Systems Administrator and Computer Engineer. She has studied at the University of Canterbury in Project Management and at the School of Business (College of Education) in Business Management.
As Head of Business Services, Lauren is responsible for administration and business support services, including compliance, marketing & communication and IT support, with a focus on embedding best practice processes for the governance and management of information within Airways International.
Justine Whitfield
Head of Products
Justine has over 15 years’ experience in designing, developing and delivering quality software solutions. With a track record in product strategy, successful delivery of innovative software solutions and a background spanning aviation, finance, HR, healthcare and travel, she enjoys working closely with colleagues and customers on aviation industry needs. Justine holds a Master of Commerce (Hons) in Management.
As Head of Products with Airways International, Justine leads a high performing cross-functional team of software developers, product managers, and product specialists to design, develop and deliver innovative solutions for aviation. Justine is responsible for a diverse portfolio that includes TotalControl for advanced ATC simulation, AirShare for uncrewed traffic management & intelligence, and SureSelect for scientific ATC selection.
Jonny Cooke
Acting Head of Products
Jonny has over 10 years’ experience working in digital products development in an operational, technical and strategic capacity. He has experience in the deployment of a number of software-based products and services (including simulator solutions) to customers around the world. Jonny also holds a Master of Information Technology.
As Acting Head of Products while Justine Whitfield is on secondment, Jonny Cooke leads a high performing cross-functional team of software developers, product managers, and product specialists to design, develop and deliver innovative solutions for aviation.
